Dowry Violence

                                 

It was prostitution when they sold her; when they sold him, called it dowry...

Women are more deadly than the male species. Women are submissive, vulnerable, oppressed and often subject to be exploited be their male counterpart. Women are considered equal to male in our constitution and we are headed to ensure women empowerment and women’s equal share in every sphere of life. But women are exploited and violated every day from the pre birth gender selection abortion to separation of widow through sexual and gender based exploitation in pre and post marriage period of life.

Violence against women are extreme violation of human right. But women are exploited every second, even in the time I am writing this paper may somewhere in the world at least one woman is violating.  

The latest statistics reveal that, on average, one woman dies every hour in a dowry-related dispute. And the perpetrators often go unpunished. Dowry system is a social evil. It is the major cause of problems in the family system even educated family also insist dowry. In some community it is a social status in different communities it depends on the habits by the bride side or the groom side. When a girl child born in a family the total income of the family is being saved for the dowry.

According to some people " DULHAN HI DAHEJ HAI.."
